TRUE FRESHMAN SEASON (2012):
-Did not see game action while working with the scout team
HIGH SCHOOL:
-Coached by Daryle Heidelburg at Miami Norland, and the wide receivers coach was Torrian Brooks
-Noted not only for his size, but his leaping ability and knowing where the ball is at all times
-Helped lead Miami Norland to the 2011 Class 5A state championship
-The Vikings[apos] offense averaged over 43 points during the state playoffs, capped by a 38-0 victory over Wakulla in the state title game
-In that title game, Owi shined catching four passes for 69 yards
-Team was committed to winning a state title in 2011 after finishing runner-up in Class 3A in 2010
-Norland[apos]s offense was heavily rush-oriented behind Rivals100 running back Randy 'Duke' Johnson, but when the Vikings did pass the ball it usually went to Owi, who led the team with 32 receptions for 550 yards
-Caught 14 of Norland[apos]s 19 touchdown passes in 2011
-Earned Class 5A Honorable Mention All-State status
-Was an All-Miami Dade County First Team selection from the Miami Herald
-Also participated in track and field and baseball as a left fielder
-Was a member of Miami Norland[apos]s National Merit Society, National Honor Society and Green Club
-Recruited by several schools, including Bowling Green, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Duke, FAU, FIU, Illinois State, Iowa State, Purdue, South Florida, West Virginia, Western Kentucky and Wisconsin
-Received scholarship offers from Purdue, Illinois State, Buffalo and Bowling Green
