Andrew Edward Butera (Drew)...2002 graduate of Bishop Moore (FL) High School where he played baseball and golf...attended the University of Central Florida...was a semi-finalist for the Johnny Bench Award in 2005, given to the nation[apos]s top collegiate catcher...father Sal, who is now a Special Assistant to the General Manager for Toronto, played in the Major Leagues from 1980-88, including with the Twins from 1980-82 and 1987.
After playing Winter ball with Lobos de Arecibo of the Liga de Beisbol Profesional de Puerto Rico,Butera made the Twins out of Spring training 2010. Drew made his major league debut on April 9, 2010 against the Chicago White Sox, and got his first major league hit against the Cleveland Indians on April 22, 2010. Drew hit his first MLB career home run in a 13-10 eleven-inning win against the Philadelphia Phillies on June 19th, 2010.
