ORLANDO – The UCF volleyball team has added FGCU transfer Skylar English to the 2025 roster, as announced by head coach Matt Botsford on Tuesday.

English is no stranger to the Sunshine State as she is a native of Naples, Florida, and has spent the last four years at FGCU. The five-eleven outside hitter is coming off a stellar senior campaign with 392 kills, 75 aces, 277 digs and 71 blocks along with becoming the sixth player in FGCU history to finish with over 500 points in a season, tallying 509.5.

“Having had the pleasure of coaching Skylar over the past 4 years I have seen first-hand what she is capable of and I am so excited for what she will contribute to the UCF Volleyball program. She is a fearless competitor, a highly skilled player who impacts the game in every phase, a great teammate, and one of the hardest workers I have ever coached. Skylar built a reputation for playing her best in the biggest moments and that really speaks to the type of player and person she is. She is a proven winner who thrives under pressure and I can’t wait to see her wearing the black and gold!”

The Naples, Florida, native finished the 2024 season ranked second in the NCAA with .64 aces per set and third with 75 aces. She was named the Most Valuable Player of the ASUN Championship after knocking home 39 total kills in the tournament and recording a double-double in the semifinal against EKU. She also helped guide the Eagles to their fourth straight NCAA appearance.

“I’m excited for the opportunity UCF has to make big waves in the Big 12 conference this year. I wanted to spend my last season competing in an environment that pushes me as an athlete but also holds each player to a certain standard of winning and success. With these coaches, girls, and resources I am excited for this upcoming season in the black and gold!”
