Women's Golf in Fifth Following Round One at Big 12 Championships

HOCKLEY, Texas – The UCF women’s golf team finished its first round at the Big 12 Championship in fifth place with a team score of 293 (+9).

The Knights finished above four teams that rank in the Top 30 and are eight strokes behind first place Iowa State. As a team UCF tallied 16 birdies on the day, which is the most by any team as Iowa State notched 15 on the day.

A three-way tie for 18th place includes One Kashima, Pimpisa “Sandwich” Sisutham and Molly Smith each carded a 73 (+2) at Houston Oaks. Sisutham and Smith tallied four birdies apiece while Kashima added in three. According to a bystander on hole No. 12 where Smith and Sisutham each birdied.. Sisutham left her approach in the right spot, making a six-foot uphill putt while Smith snaked in a downhill putt from the back fringe for birdie. 

Jamie Camero turned in a 74 (+3) in her debut at the conference championship as the true freshman started the day bogey-free through the first six holes. The rookie recorded three birdies on the day and finished in 27th place.  

Mila Jurine rounded out the squad with a 75 (+4) to end the day in 39th place.

The Knights will tee off round two of the Big 12 Championship on hole No. 1 at 9:50 a.m.
