ORLANDO - The UCF women’s golf team is set to open postseason play in Houston, Texas, this week, teeing off in the Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship at the Houston Oaks Country Club. The tournament will open on Tuesday, April 15, and will conclude on Thursday, April 17.

The Black and Gold head into the tournament hot, as they wrapped up their regular-season slate with three straight top-five finishes, earning a fourth place finish at the Gators Invitational on March 8, and leaving their next competition, the Valsapar Invitational, with the runner-up title. The squad finally closed out this past weekend in fifth place at the Veritex Bank Collegiate.

This will be the second consecutive year, and third overall, that the Houston Oaks Club’s Championship Course has welcomed the Big 12 Women’s Tournament. The course, opened in 2017, spans 7,007 yards and plays as a par-71.

In last year’s Big 12 Tournament, the Knights placed eighth overall, giving their best performance on the final day of play where they recorded an even-with-par team score of 284 to secure a top-ten finish in the squad’s first-ever Big 12 Championship appearance.

Pimpisa “Sandwich” Sisutham, also earned her stripes in the tournament as one of two Knights to place in the top ten on the individual leaderboard. Sisutham carded an individual score of 214, just one over par, to tie for eighth. Former Knight Jess Barker, joined her in the achievement, ending the tournament even with an individual score of 213 to place seventh.

The 30th-ranked Knights will face a tough field of teams, as they are joined by six other programs ranked amongst the top 30; Arizona State (8), TCU (15), Arizona (18), Kansas (22), Houston (26), Kansas State (28), Oklahoma State (29), Iowa State, Baylor, Texas Tech, Colorado, Cincinnati.

The Knight’s lineup will feature Molly Smith, Pimpisa “Sandwich” Sisutham, Mila Jurine, One Kashima, and Jamie Camero

Rounds one and two of the tournament are set to tee off at 8:00 a.m., with a shotgun start concluding the tournament on Thursday.
