Twenty-nine Student-Athletes Sign To Play Football For UCF

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Head Coach George O'Leary announced the signing of 29 athletes to National Letters of Intent on Wednesday to play football at UCF. The 2007 UCF signing class features 21 athletes from the State of Florida, four from Georgia, three from Louisiana and the first high school recruit from Minnesota.

In all, the Golden Knights' class features three quarterbacks, one running back, two tight ends, four wide receivers, two offensive lineman, six defensive backs, three linebackers, four defensive lineman, three athletes and one specialist.

"We are very excited about this class because we were able to address a lot of our needs, especially at the skill positions," O'Leary said. "We went out to specifically recruit speed and athleticism at the wide receiver and defensive back positions and hopefully that has been accomplished."

The signing class includes a pair of teammates as Homestead (Fla.) High School All-State performers Alphonso Bryant and A.J. Guyton both inked to play for the Golden Knights. The last pair of teammates to sign with the Golden Knights were Kyle Fowler and Lamarr Guy, who both prepped at Lake Brantley (Fla.) High School.

The 29-member class includes only one junior college signee. Mike Greco (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Pearl River Community College) was one of the trio of quarterbacks that signed. He played one season of junior college ball after originally signing with North Carolina State in 2005.
