by Justin Wilson

GREENVILLE, N.C. – UCF’s Hans Risvaer turned in one of the best two rounds of his collegiate career, as the freshman is tied for third on the individual leaderboard with a 144 (E) after firing a 75 (+3) in the first round and a 69 (-3) in the second round Monday afternoon in the ECU Intercollegiate at Brook Valley Country Club.

As a team, the Knights are fourth with a 594 (+18) thanks to a 299 (+11) and a 295 (+7) in round two. The host East Carolina Pirates lead the field at eight under (584), while Barton College and Temple are tied for second with a 592 (+16).

Risvaer is two strokes shy of the individual leader, East Carolina’s Drew O’Neal (142, -2), following the first day of action at even par. Hailing from Miami, Risvaer recorded an eagle on hole No. 2 in both rounds and dropped in five birdie putts on the day.

Senior Egor Eroshenko and sophomore Chase Haygood are both tied for 15th with a 148 (+4). Eroshenko shot a 75 in the opening round with a birdie on hole 13 and a 73 in the second round with three birdies. Haygood notched an even par 72 through the first 18 holes, headlined by a birdie on No. 12 and 16, and a 76 in the second round with four birdies. His six birdies on the day led UCF.

Gustav Andersson is tied for 44th with a 154 (+10) and Garret Ebbert recorded a 13-over-par 157. Andersson opened the day with a bogey-free front nine, but a tough back nine inflated his score to a 77 (+5). He followed that with the same score in the second round, birdieing hole No. 2.

Ebbert joined Risvaer as one of just 10 players in the field with an eagle, as his third shot on No. 2 in the second round dropped in for the eagle. He ended the round with a 78 (+6) after tallying three birdies en route to a 79 (+7) in the first round.

Competing as an individual, Marc Keller carded an 84 in the opening round and 85 in the second round.

UCF will tee off starting at 8:45 a.m. in the final round Tuesday morning at the Brook Valley Country Club.
