by Justin Wilson

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Junior Gustav Andersson was one of just 16 players to shot under par in the second round of The Hayt Collegiate Invitational Sunday afternoon at the Sawgrass Country Club to lead the UCF men’s golf team.

Following a hot start to the day with three birdies on a bogey-free front nine, Andersson finished the day with a 71 (-1) to jump 27 spots on the player leaderboard into a tie for 27th with a two-round score of 149 (+5).

As a team, the Knights are 10th with a 603 (+27) on a very challenging course against a stacked field that features five teams among the nation’s top 25 and nine among the top 60.

Egor Eroshenko, Chase Haygood and Hans Risvaer all shot a 77 (+5). Eroshenko shot a 37 on the front nine and a 40 on the back nine with three birdies on the day, while Haygood was even through the first nine holes and was five over on the back nine. He and Risvaer each had three birdies in the round with the latter carding a score of four over on the front nine and one over on the back nine.

Haygood is tied with Andersson for 27th on the individual leaderboard after the first two rounds.

Cooper Tate fired an 82 (+10) Sunday with a birdie on hole 14, while Marc Keller competed as an individual and logged an 85 (+13) with birdies on five and seven.

UCF will return to the course Monday morning for the final round of The Hayt. Pairings for the day have not yet been announced.
