UCF Spirit Turns in Strong First Day at Nationals

ORLANDO - Headlined by a third-place finish in the D1A Coed Cheer Gameday Finals, UCF spirit teams turned in a strong first day at the UCA and UDA College Nationals held Friday at the Walt Disney World Resort. The Knights finished with a score of 97.0667 to finish just one point behind national champion Tennessee (98.4667) and second place South Florida (97.2667).

The Black and Gold were fifth in the semifinals of Coed Cheer Gameday but put together a great showing in the finals to earn a spot on the podium in third place.

In the D1A Jazz A Prelims, UCF scored a 95.6667 raw score and a 91.1111 event score to place third and advance to the semifinals on Saturday at 7:15 p.m.

UCF’s Eliza LaBelle and Michael Head Jr. finished 10th in the Coed Partner Stunt competition with 85 points. Weber State’s partner stunt won the event with a score of 90.1.

Saturday

·       12:14 p.m. UCF Cheerleading team will compete in the Division IA Cheerleading Semifinals (Cheer Results will post at 1:15p)

·       4:12 p.m. UCF Dance Team will compete in the Division IA Hip Hop Semifinals (Dance Results will post 5:30p)

·       7:15 p.m. UCF Dance Team will compete in the Division 1A Jazz Semifinals Saturday between 7:15-10 p.m. (Division IA Jazz Finalists will be announced at 10:15pm)
