ORLANDO – The UCF cheer and dance teams found success on their first day of competition at the 2023 College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championships on Saturday, Jan. 14. Both teams advanced to the finals that will take place on Sunday, Jan. 15 after impressive performances in semifinals competition.
The cheer squad wrapped up semifinal competition with a raw score of 94.8 and event score of 91.3, placing fourth in their division. The Knights will attempt to earn their fourth national championship in Division 1A Cheerleading in the finals on Sunday.
After not advancing last year in the jazz division, the dance team recorded a raw score of 100.55 and an event score of 87.4348 to place 13th in the semifinals and advance to the final round.
For the second year in a row, the dance team will compete in the finals for the hip hop division as well. They placed eighth in semifinal action, with a raw score of 103.4 and an event score of 89.913, an entire point ahead of last year's squad.

* DIA Cheer Finals: 7:30pm - 9:10 p.m. / UCF will compete at 8:30 PM/ Location is ESPN Arena S. Red
