Lavigne Earns AAC Goalkeeper of the Week

ORLANDO, Fla. – After recording a career-high seven saves and earning his first solo clean sheet of his career, Tyler Lavigne has been named the American Athletic Conference's Goalkeeper of the Week.

The Knights earned their third straight victory and advanced to 6-1 in conference play with a 3-0 win over Temple on Friday night. The Black and Gold scored in the 4th minute thanks to Lucca Dourado goal off a corner kick and an assist from Gino Vivi. He went on to score the final two goals of the match, as he was involved on each goal in the match. Vivi's efforts in the victory earned him a spot on The American's Weekly Honor Roll.

Lavigne made a miraculous save just before the half, moving from one side of the goal to the other on a free kick and stopping a chance at the back post to keep the zero on the scoreboard. Lavigne had tallied three saves at the half and made an additional four in the final 45 minutes, topping his previous career-best six saves against Tulsa on Oct. 10.

After not playing last season, Lavigne has made his presence known in his redshirt freshman campaign. He has gone 7-1-0 in net for the Knights, recording a .730 save percentage and a 1.28 goals against average through 700 minutes played. This is the second time this season that Lavigne has been tabbed as the conference's goalkeeper of the week, previously earning the nod for his performance against Memphis in mid-September. He has also earned a spot on the weekly honor roll twice.
