ORLANDO – The UCF men's basketball team is playing some of its best basketball at the right time. The Knights have won four in a row and are set to open up American Athletic Conference Championship action this Thursday, March 11. UCF is the sixth seed and will play 11th seeded ECU at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT from Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, with coverage on ESPNU and FM 96.9 The Game.

The Knights (10-11, 8-10) have also won six of their last eight games down the stretch of the regular season, with both losses coming by one point. UCF will need to win four games in four days to win the conference title and earn the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.

UCF squares off with ECU (8-10, 2-10) for the third time this season after winning both games against the Pirates during the regular season. A victory against ECU would lead to a third matchup this season against Memphis. The Tigers are the third seed in the tourney and would take on the Knights Friday at 10 p.m. ET on ESPNU.

After falling to the Knights on March 4, ECU finished up its regular season slate against Cincinnati, falling to the Bearcats 82-69 on Sunday. The Pirates only have two conference wins this season, but one of them was a 82-73 home victory over then fifth-ranked Houston on Feb. 3.

UCF leads the all-time series over ECU, 25-9, and the Knights have won each of the last 11 meetings between the two teams. The last time ECU defeated UCF it was in the AAC Tournament, an 81-80 overtime victory in first-round action on March 12, 2015.
