ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF's quest in claiming back-to-back Conference USA titles may begin at home Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. vs. Marshall, yet 12 former Knights are getting into the heart of the NFL season as well. That includes guard Josh Sitton (Green Bay Packers) and defensive tackle Torell Troup (Buffalo Bills) who each are members of 3-0 teams so far in 2011.
Last year's NFL Offensive Lineman of the Year, Sitton and the defending Super Bowl champion Packers rank eighth in the NFL in total yards per game, while the O-line has surrendered just five sacks in three games. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has taken just seven hits, which is tied for the fewest in the entire league.
Also shining offensively, Brandon Marshall sits in 15th in the NFL with 17 receptions for the Miami Dolphins, Mike Sims-Walker has racked up 10 receptions for 133 yards with the St. Louis Rams and defensive-end-turned-fullback Bruce Miller was second on the team with four receptions in the San Francisco 49ers' victory over the Cincinnati Bengals Sept. 25.
Over on defense, Asante Samuel (Philadelphia Eagles) recorded an interception against Atlanta in week two, and has 11 total tackles in three starts.
