ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF football team had an eventful second day in full pads on Tuesday morning.

The Knights moved their scheduled afternoon practice up to the morning in an effort to avoid the afternoon pop-up thunderstorms which have hit Orlando recently and get the full-contact session in on the natural grass fields. However, midway through practice, the skies opened up and a wind-driven sideways rain forced UCF to scurry a few yards into the comfort of the Nicholson Fieldhouse to complete practice on the FieldTurf surface inside. Typical of Floridian weather, 20 minutes later the sun was shining again, but the team stayed inside instead of making a second venue shift.

On the field the emphasis was on the passing game Tuesday morning with the wide receivers and secondary all very actively involved in the day's session.

Kamar Aiken and Derrick Hallman, both seniors, know a thing or two about using preseason camp to prepare for game situations and on Tuesday they looked more ready for game situations than most. The two wore the team's new NIKE game uniforms out to practice to get a sense for the feel of the new attire. Both reported liking the comfort and breathability of the jerseys but reported the uniform pants being a bit tight and would opt for a larger size come September 4 when the Knights play host to South Dakota.

Now that it started yesterday, the annual NFL scouting train continued on Tuesday as representatives from the Chicago Bears and Cleveland Browns stopped by Orlando to get a closer look at a very deep UCF senior class which includes 11 starters.

One other visitor to practice on Tuesday was former Knight defensive lineman Elton Patterson who starred at UCF from 1999-2002 before going onto play for both the Cincinnati Bengals and Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL. Patterson is one of the few Knights to rank ahead of Bruce Miller in career sacks and the two shared some good conversation during breaks in the action.

UCF is back on the practice field on Wednesday afternoon from 3-5:30 p.m.
