Rowing Gears up for Big 10 Invitational

ORLANDO – The rowing team will head to Nathan Benderson Park for the second consecutive time this season to compete at the Big 10 Invitational.

Coming off a second-place overall finish and a Big 12 Boat of the Week nod for the II Eight at the Sunshine State Invitational, the Knights face eight teams who are ranked or receiving votes in the Pocock Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Poll. UCF received votes for the third consecutive week, hauling in 77 votes.

"I am looking forward to seeing how the team embraces the challenge of taking on a lot of the top teams in the country," head coach Mara Allen said. "The team has done great work and we've made changes to the lineups. I am excited to see how we perform this weekend."

The II Four will launch racing for the Knights on Friday morning at 8:30 and take on No. 9 Michigan, No. 13 Rutgers and Big 12 affiliate No. 15 Tennessee. The I Four, II Eight and I Eight will follow at 8:40 a.m., 8:50 a.m. and 9 a.m. respectively with SMU added to its races.

On Friday afternoon at 4:15, the II Four will start things off against No. 5 Brown, Rutgers, Minnesota (RV) and Big 12 affiliate Alabama (RV). The I Four will follow at 4:25 p.m. with the II Eight at 4:35 p.m. and the I Eight at 4:45 p.m.

Saturday morning, the Knights take on Iowa (RV), Notre Dame (RV), Alabama and Wisconsin. The II Four will race at 9:20 a.m. followed by the I Four at 9:30 a.m., II Eight at 9:40 a.m. and the I Eight at 9:50 a.m.

The regatta will be streamed on RHSTV and live results will be posted on CrewTimer.com.
