No. 16 Track and Field Set for Tom Jones Memorial

ORLANDO – The latter half of the Knights’ inaugural Big 12 outdoor season rolls on as the No. 16 UCF track and field team travels north for the Tom Jones Memorial this weekend. Hosted by Florida at the James G. Pressly Stadium, the squad will make the third of three trips to Gainesville in 2024.

Under head coach Dana Boone, the Black and Gold have consistently embarked on the Tom Jones Memorial, one of the nation’s premier collegiate meets. Earlier this season, the Knights displayed multiple strong performances at the Florida Relays, including Rayniah Jones’ 12.78 in the 100m hurdles which currently ranks second in the world and the NCAA.

Knights in the Polls

UCF remained in the top 25 for the third consecutive week to open outdoor season, slotting in at 16th in the latest USTFCCCA Poll. Led by multiple top-10 marks, the Knights continue to feature alongside the Big 12 and the South region in the Index.

Jones’ aforementioned performance in the 100m hurdles, alongside Kiah Williams and Asherah Collins who rank among the top 10 in two events.

Last Time Out

The multis squad showed out in their first heptathlon of the outdoor season, as Y’Vette Harris jumped into sixth all-time in program history. The freshman placed eighth overall at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational with 5,076 points.

Holly Cassels led the way in fifth as she set a personal record with a brilliant outing in Coral Gables. The junior tallied 5,185 points to solidify her place in fourth all-time in program history.
