ORLANDO (UCFKngihts.com) – Behind 519 yards of total offense, the UCF football team improved to 9-0 on the season with a 49-24 victory over UConn on Saturday at Spectrum Stadium. The No. 12/14 Knights topped 500 yards of total offense for the sixth time this season.
 
The Knights flew out of the gates with touchdowns on four of their first five drives. Otis Anderson strolled into end zone on a three-yard run to open the scoring. Adrian Killins Jr. notched his eighth rushing touchdown of the season with a four-yard scamper on UCF's second drive. Quarterback McKenzie Milton found Marlon Williams with a four-yard touchdown toss to make it 21-3. Milton then hit Tre'Quan Smith with a 41-yard touchdown strike midway through the second quarter.
 
The UCF defense forced a pair of UConn turnovers. With the Knights leading 14-3 in the first, Tony Guerad jumped on a loose ball at the Huskies' 13-yard line to set up the Black and Gold's third touchdown. Mike Hughes picked off his third pass of the year with a diving effort to halt a Husky drive late in the second quarter. The Knights were in the UConn backfield throughout the afternoon with a trio of sacks, four quarterback hurries and five tackles for-loss.

OTIS' CAREER DAY
• Anderson finished with nine carries for 84 yards and two touchdowns, all career highs.
• The native of Jacksonville bounced back from a third-quarter fumble with a 65-yard touchdown run.
• In addition, Anderson was never tackled for a loss on Saturday.
• Anderson said after the game it was a special performance for him on Veterans Day weekend and UCF's Military Appreciation game, since his father (Otis Sr.) served in the United States Navy.

KZ KEEPS IT CLEAN
• Milton finished the day with 311 yards on 24-of-36 passing with a pair of touchdown strikes.
• The Kapolei, Hawaii, native joined Blake Bortles (2013) and Daunte Culpepper (1997) for third on the UCF single-season chart with his fifth 300-yard passing game in 2017.
• The sophomore also added a touchdown on the ground to go along with 54 yards rushing. 
• Milton did not throw an interception for the fifth time this season.


McKenzie's been our catalyst. We have a lot of guys around him that make football plays. McKenzie is the one making the decisions and distributing. I thought he played a clean game today. Their defense did a good job and took away some of the things we thought we were going to have, and that made us sputter a little bit. Some of our mistakes made us sputter. But when we need plays, McKenzie makes them and he's been lights out from a decision making standpoint all year. So another good performance by him.

"Anytime you can win in this league, it's a good win. I told the team after I'm amazed and proud of what they've accomplished. It's hard to be 9-0. It's also an interesting feeling when you come off and not everybody is elated, because they know we didn't play quite our best as a football team. It's awesome when you get a win when you don't quite play your best. But I think our guys understand we are going to have to be at our best in upcoming weeks, so we're looking forward to getting back to work."

"Yeah this has been one of the best weeks I've had and I'm grateful to these players for playing as hard as they did and put in these two games out because the birth of my son with two wins makes it one of the best weeks I've ever had."

"I think the administration, campus and everybody is doing everything they can to try to fast forward this program and university and catapult us to what we all know this place can become. I think staying ahead of the curve on facilities certainly isn't easy, but the commitment to do that has been incredible. I'm just thrilled with all the changes and things that are happening around here and really think Dr. Hitt, Danny White, the donors and everybody else that is getting these things done."
