AAC Announces UCF Football Opponents for 2020, 2021

UCF will play host to home football games versus Cincinnati, Temple, Tulane and Tulsa in 2020 and East Carolina, USF, Memphis and Tulane in 2021 as part of the American Athletic Conference scheduling model for conference games that will be in place for the next two football seasons.

The AAC today announced details for that regular-season league competition for 2020-21.

The Knights in 2020 will face Cincinnati, Temple, Tulane and Tulsa at Spectrum Stadium and go on the road to meet East Carolina, Houston, Memphis and USF. UCF will not play AAC members Navy or SMU in 2020.

Then in 2021 UCF will play host to East Carolina, USF, Memphis and Tulane at Spectrum Stadium, in addition to road contests at Cincinnati, Temple, Navy and SMU. The Knights will not face Houston or Tulsa in 2021.

The scheduling model was approved by The American's athletic directors at the conference's recent fall meeting in Philadelphia.

The 2020 season will be the first for The American with 11 football-playing institutions, with UConn leaving the AAC after the 2019-20 athletic season. The 2020 and 2021 schedules will include eight conference games--four home games and four road contests--for each team in each season. Each team will face the other 10 teams at least once in the two-year cycle.

The road game against Memphis takes the place of UConn in 2020, while the home game against Tulane takes the spot of the previously scheduled UConn game in 2021.

The American will not have a divisional format for its 2020 and 2021 football seasons. The conference will determine the procedures for determining the participants in the AAC football championship game at a later date.
