ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – For the fifth consecutive year, the UCF rowing team saw its name appear on the screen during the NCAA Rowing Championships selection show on Tuesday evening.
Not only did the five-time American Athletic Conference champions see their names as the automatic qualifiers, they also saw the program’s highest seeding in all three NCAA events since the championship moved to the three boat format in 2009.
The Knights matched their highest seeding in the Varsity Eight under UCF head coach Becky Cramer, entering the championship at No. 18. In 2007, when UCF's V8 qualified for the NCAAs, the squad entered the championship seeded 14th.
UCF’s conference champion Second Varsity Eight earned its highest seed, entering NCAAs at No. 16. The Varsity Four, which posted an open-water win at The American Championship, earned its highest seed in program history at No. 15.
The Black and Gold posted the fourth straight top 20 team finish at the 2018 NCAA Rowing Championships in Sarasota.
The 2019 NCAA Rowing Championships are hosted by Indiana and Indiana Sports Corporation and will take place May 31-June 2 in Indianapolis. UCF's V8 finished 18th overall, while the V4 joined them in the top 20 with a 20th place finish. The 2V8 finished 21st overall.
Racing will begin on May 31 at Eagle Creek Park. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased in single session or all-session. Information on parking, tickets and the venue can be found here.
