After a good practice this morning, we went to Pike's Peak to see the mountains and a beautiful view. While I was excited about getting to the top, I was not excited about how cold it was up there. We went up the mountain on a cog railway. Here is a view from the summit.

On the court, we can see things beginning to click! Only one practice left before the tournament begins!

Hey Knight fans,

We scrimmaged Chile today. Our emphasis for the game was to play better defense and do a better job of rebounding. We did a better job of rebounding but missed too many easy baskets. We have to tighten up for our scrimmage vs Brazil tomorrow night. GO USA!

I also want to give you an update from back home at UCF. Today we finished our Fundamental Camp. We have two more days of Team Camp then our Position Play camp starts Sunday evening! I'm so proud of our team and I can't wait to share the experience I've had with USA Basketball.

We won both of our scrimmages but Coach Rizzotti reminded the team that it's not just about winning, it's about HOW we win! Just incase you were wondering who I am cheering for tonight in the NBA Finals...GO CELTICS!!!!

We just finished morning practice. We are still working on making good decisions in transition and also worked on zone offense and defense and press attack.

June 16, 2010 - 9:00 p.m. MT

We had a tough practice this morning but the the team worked hard. During the second practice we went through our game warmup and worked on 5-0 offense. This is a great way to make sure everyone knows where to be and what we are looking for out of the offense. After a productive day we surprised the team with dinner at Chili's and a special treat...The Karate Kid.

We had our final scrimmage against the U17s this morning. It was very competitive and I really liked the way our team fought and didn't quit when we were down!

June 13, 2010 - 6:04 p.m. MT

Yay! The U18 team has been finalized...We did a good job in our scrimmage today against the U17 squad. Both teams are together tonight for dinner and to watch the Lakers-Celtics game.

By the way, its still cold out here...50 degrees right now and it is supposed to get down to 40 tonight!!!

June 11, 2010 - 9:12 p.m. MT

We just finished with our second practice of the day! Not bad...we did a lot of work on half court defense and transition offense. We also put in a half court offensive set.

Guess what I did today during our afternoon break?

June 10, 2010 - 3:33 p.m. MT

We watched some great competition this morning beween the U-17s and U-18s as the two groups scrimmaged for the first time. We will be back at it for more scrimmaging in about an hour.

I took a walk in downtown Colorado Spring this afternoon and there was some beautiful weather - 82 degrees with no humidity. People here think it is hot today! If they only knew!

Alright, back to work! Check out this picture as we enter the U.S. Olympic Training Center. It's great to represent the United States!

Hey Knight fans,

We had two good sessions of workouts today. In the morning we worked on position work, transition and defensive shell drills. Coach Rizzotti really emphasized the details to our players, including crisp passes, sharp cuts, sprinting and communicating. She challenged our players to get out of their comfort zone.

In the night session, we had very high energy and effort. Our players scrimmaged some and the games were competitive. We have a big morning as we will be scrimmaging against the U-17 National Team hopefuls at 9 a.m.

I'll check in tomorrow with an update,

Hey Knight fans,

We had a great first day yesterday! It felt good to get on the court again. The players were a little nervous but the effort was really good! We also had a great dinner last night with the staff and selection committee at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort! Check out this picture of two coaches from the sunshine state representing USA Basketball!

More to come later!

Hey Knight fans,

I have been given the honor of working with USA Basketball throughout the next three weeks as an assistant coach for the 2010 USA U18 Women's National Team, and I wanted to use this blog to share my thoughts and experiences with you as I embark on this exciting opportunity to represent the United States and UCF. After a long day of traveling from Orlando, I arrived late last night in Colorado Springs.

The trials will begin this evening at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, and we are excited to have 27 talented young ladies here vying for one the 12 roster spots on the 2010 USA Basketball Women's U18 National Team's roster that will compete in the 2010 FIBA Americas U18 Championship for Women from June 23-27.

I will have the pleasure of working with some outstanding coaches while in Colorado, and I was able to meet with them at breakfast this morning. Former UCONN standout and current Hartford head coach Jennifer Rizzotti will serve as the head coach while FSU head coach Sue Semrau will also be an assistant coach. We will also be joined during the trials by court coaches Sue Syljebeck, head coach at Siena Heights University, and Toby Wynn, head coach at Seward County Community College in Kansas. We are all excited to work together and get started on the court.

On that note, it's time to get started. I will be back soon to give you an update on the start of the trials and my initial thoughts on the U.S. Olympic Training Center. Stay Tuned!
