ORLANDO, Fla. - The NCAA released the updated RPI standings on Monday and the UCF Volleyball team is the highest ranked team from the American Athletic Conference. The Knights are ranked 35th overall.
UCF (20-6, 13-1 AAC) slipped six spots in this week's RPI, after being ranked 29th last week. The RPI standings rank 334 teams based upon their winning percentage, strength of schedule and opponents' strength of schedule.
The Knights are ahead of a combined 36 teams from the SEC, ACC, Pac-12, Big Ten and Big 12 and sit nine spots ahead of SMU.
In the latest NCAA statistical rankings, UCF lands in the top ten in three different categories. The Knights rank fifth with a team hitting percentage of .291, and UCF's 13.73 assists per set also ranks fifth in the nation. The Knights' 14.52 kills per set ranks seventh in the NCAA.
Senior DeLaina Sarden ranks fourth in the nation with a .446 hitting percentage while senior Kaye-Alese Green ranks 14th with a .410 hitting percentage. UCF is one of three teams with two players hitting above .400 this season.
Over the weekend, UCF extended its streak to 13 matches before falling for the first time in The American. The Knights saw a six week streak of receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches Poll come to a close this week as well.
