ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF Volleyball opens the 2014 season this weekend as the Knights host the Radisson UCF Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The round-robin tournament features Eastern Kentucky, Western Carolina, Northeastern and FIU and opens at 10 a.m. on Friday as the Huskies take on the Colonels at The Venue at UCF.
UCF opens its season at 3 p.m. against the Colonels and the Knights return to the court for the nightcap at 7:30 p.m. against Western Carolina.
On Saturday, action resumes at 11 a.m. as the Colonels take on the Panthers. UCF hosts Northeastern in the 1 p.m. match, followed by the Catamounts and Huskies at 5 p.m. The Knights close out the tournament with a matchup against in-state rival FIU at 7 p.m.
Eastern Kentucky finished the 2013 season 18-16 overall, and return preseason All-OVA selection Alexis Plagens. Western Carolina finished last season with an 18-13 overall record and the Catamounts return nine lettermen. Northeastern returns nine members from a squad that went 19-11 last year. FIU finished the 2013 season with a 13-17 overall record and add 12 newcomers to the roster this season.
UCF Volleyball, which is presented by Radisson - UCF Area, holds a collective 33-22 record against the lineup. The Knights will face the Panthers in the 51st overall meeting. UCF boasts a 29-21 overall record against FIU, including a 3-0 win in the last meeting in 2012.
