ORLANDO, Fla. ( - The UCF volleyball team was selected to finish second in the American Athletic Conference preseason poll, as announced by the league on Tuesday. Additionally, senior middle blockers DeLaina Sarden and Kaye-Alese Green were named to the All-Conference Preseason Team. Sarden was one of four unanimous selections.

The Knights, who received one first place vote in the poll, return the entire starting lineup from the 2013 campaign that saw UCF finish the season with a 21-10 overall record and a 12-6 mark in The American.

"SMU should be highly favored based on what they return, but I honestly believe there's a lot of schools in the upper half of the conference that could contend for a title," head coach Todd Dagenais said. "We're certainly appreciative of the coaches feeling like we're part of that upper tier."

For Sarden, a unanimous first team member last season, her selection marked the second consecutive season that she has received the honor of being voted onto the preseason team by all of the league's coaches. The Lawrenceville, Ga., native earned her second AVCA All-America Honorable Mention honor following her 2013 campaign of 395 kills, 30 solo blocks and a .409 attack percentage.

Green, an all-conference second team selection in 2013, led the team with 126 total blocks as a junior. The Jacksonville, Fla., native recorded 181 kills with a .338 attack percentage while starting all 31 matches last season.

"We're proud of Kaye and DeLaina for being recognized among the best in the conference," Dagenais said. "There's no doubt that we do have exceptional middles."

UCF Volleyball, which is presented by Radisson - UCF Area, will wrap up preseason action when it hosts the second Black and Gold Scrimmage on Aug. 23 at The Venue at UCF. The Knights open the regular season at home with the Radisson UCF Invitational Aug. 29-30 at The Venue.

Season tickets are now available for $30, good for one general admission seat to all 2014 regular season home matches. Youth (ages 2-17 years) season tickets are on sale for $15. For more information on how to purchase tickets, visit or call 407-UCF-1000.
