MEMPHIS, Tenn. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF volleyball team will wrap up its inaugural season in the American Athletic Conference this week with a pair of road matches. The action begins Wednesday night at 8 p.m. against former Conference USA rival Memphis and concludes with a Friday night showdown with Temple at 7 p.m.
"There is still a lot we can accomplish this season in these last two matches, UCF head coach Todd Dagenais said. I know our team is going to be resilient and bounce back from the tough results of last weekend. We definitely would like to earn our 20th victory and potentially set up a situation where we can set a record for most wins in a since this current coaching staff took over.
The Knights (19-10, 10-6 The American) defeated the Tigers (14-16, 6-10) and Owls (18-10, 9-7) in back-to-back matches earlier this season on Oct. 25 and 27, but know they will get each team's best efforts in their final home contests.
UCF is led offensively by middle blocker DeLaina Sarden and setter Marie Reiterova. Sarden leads The American in attack percentage (.403), while ranking fifth in kills per set (3.41) and ninth in blocks per set (1.03). Reiterova leads the league in assists per set at 11.42 which is good enough for 16th best in the nation.
