ORLANDO, Fla. ( - Coming into Friday night, the UCF volleyball team and their opponent Louisville had combined to win 13-consecutive matches. Something had to give and unfortunately for the Knights, it was their five-match winning streak that was snapped as they were swept (25-19, 25-11, 25-14) in front a high-energy crowd of 604 at The Venue.

The Knights (18-8, 9-4 The American) were overwhelmed by Louisville's stingy defense as they hit just .078, their lowest attack percentage in a match this season. The Cardinals (19-9, 14-0) hit .319 and had just 13 total errors compared to 30 by the Black and Gold. The Knights also had some difficulties in the serve game, committing a season-high nine service errors.

My hats off to Louisville for coming on the road and putting together such a fantastic effort, UCF head coach Todd Dagenais said. I think we ran into a team that can smell the blood in the water. The conference championship is close at hand and they weren't going to let it slip away tonight. They are a highly experienced team in a lot of critical positions. They are ready for the NCAA tournament and I wouldn't be surprised to see them make a run in it.

UCF was led offensively by junior Kaye-Alese Green who hit .455 on her six kills and chipped in with an impressive high-rising solo block defensively. Fellow junior middle blocker DeLaina Sarden led the team with eight kills, but was held to just a .114 attack clip. Freshman Shelby Foyer racked up eight digs from the back row and was matched by eight more junior libero Jade Hayes. Hayes, however, saw her streak of double-digit digs snapped at 20 matches.

We had way too many errors, Dagenais continued. 21 hitting errors with 17 in the first two sets is something we simply can't do against a team that can counterattack as well as they can. We just couldn't get kills. For whatever reason we struggled with that. We had a game plan we worked on all week and just didn't execute it well at all. Everything was predicated to start off our serve game, but that was just not their tonight.

UCF will look to start a new winning streak on Sunday as it takes on Cincinnati in a 2 p.m. matinee at The Venue. Please note, due to the UCF Men's Basketball event taking place that afternoon at CFE Arena, parking for the volleyball match will be located in Garage D and will cost $5 dollars. Fans will not be permitted to park in Garage F as that is exclusive paid parking for basketball at CFE Arena.
