ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF head volleyball coach Todd Dagenais will make the first changes to his staff in over three years as assistant Erik Peterson was named to the Oklahoma staff on Monday. Peterson, who completed his third season of work in 2011, worked with the outside hitters, defensive specialists and opponent scouting.
"We are very proud of Erik and all that he has helped us accomplish at UCF," Dagenais said. "The Sooners are getting an excellent coach that will help them develop all facets of their program. Part of my responsibility as a head coach is to prepare (my assistants) for other opportunities, and we are excited that Erik has received one of these."
With Peterson a part of the staff, the Knights made tremendous strides over the course of each season. In 2011, UCF won 20 games for the first time since 2003 and finished with a program-best 12 wins in Conference USA.
The squad's outside hitters compiled many postseason awards last year with Angelica Crump earning First Team All-C-USA Honors, a program first, and Evija Vilde being named to the All-C-USA Second Team. Crump also earned AVCA All-America Honorable Mention status last semester.
