ORLANDO - UCF goes on the road putting its 21-game A-Sun road-winning streak on the line against the last team to knock them off on the road in Georgia State. The Golden Knights will also visit Mercer on its road swing through Georgia. The Knights have also won 21 straight over league foes.
Chaz Arah has led the Knights in conference play thus far. The 5-10 junior from Scottsdale, Ariz., is hitting .394 in league games, a figure that ranks third in the league. She is also leading the team in kills per game and aces per game in conference play. Arah ranks in the top-10 in the league in six categories and has been one of the key contributors to UCF during the last eight matches which saw the Knights post a 7-1 mark including a 5-0 A-Sun record.
Georgia State has gotten off to a 4-1 start in A-Sun play and has an 8-13 mark overall. GSU has gone five games in six matches this year and posted a 1-5 mark in those contests. Alex Blenche and Robyn Van Dam lead the Lady Panthers averaging 2.93 and 2.60 kills per game respectively. Van Dam also leads the team with a .305 percentage and 53 blocks. The Lady Panthers were the last team to defeat UCF while hosting the Knights. During the 2000 season, Georgia State downed UCF 3-0 in the GSU Sports Arena. Since that match, the Golden Knights have reeled of 21 straight wins on the road over league opponents.
Mercer currently stands at 3-3 in the league with a 10-11 mark overall. Katie Plummer leads the team in kills with 204 on the year and also leads the team in digs with 306. The Bears will host A-Sun co-leader Florida Atlantic before facing UCF. The Bears are looking for their first win over the Knights in 15 previous attempts.
UCF will face Georgia State on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Mercer on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
