Volleyball Falls 3-0 at Georgia Tech

ATLANTA - Tanya Jarvis recorded 13 kills and 13 digs, but it was not enough as the Georgia Tech volleyball team won its 17th straight match, defeating UCF, 3-0 (30-13, 30-18, 30-25). With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 19-5 while the Golden Knights fall to 8-13.

The Yellow Jackets set the tone early in the match, holding the Golden Knights to six kills in game one while 16 and committing no errors. In the second game, the Knights recorded 13 kills, but could not overcome nine hitting errors, falling 30-18 in the second game. In the final game, UCF was able to force nine hitting errors, but fell 30-25.

Tech's offense was outstanding, hitting .359 as a team while holding UCF to a .037 hitting percentage. Lindsey Gray had a team-best 11 kills and hit .346 along with Lauren Sauer who also chipped in 11 kills and hit .455. Jayme Gergen followed with eight kills and hit .438 while Laura Kuhn had six kills on the night. Abby Showers and Lindsey Laband shared the setting duties with Showers recording 25 assists in the match and Laband posting 11.

The Golden Knights were led by Tanya Jarvis who had 13 kills and 13 digs on the night. Jana Mitchell recorded six kills while Amanda Stoutjesdyk added four.

The Golden Knights return home to face #25 Florida A&M on Saturday at noon before their final Atlantic Sun conference match vs. Jacksonville on Sunday at 6:00 p.m.
