ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF baseball team has added a single game against Florida State to the 2014 schedule, as the two squads will square off for a third time this season on Tuesday, May 13 at 1 p.m. in Tallahassee. Both teams had an open date to play due to cancellations earlier in the season.
The Knights and the Seminoles met for a two-game non-conference series earlier in the season when FSU took two in Orlando. UCF nearly defeated then no. 2 Florida State on March 11 in front of a record-setting crowd of 3,953 fans, but the Seminoles came out on top 11-10. FSU went on to win again on March 12, 18-1.
The Seminoles are 33-11 on the season and 17-7 in ACC play, having recently lost two out of three to no. 1 Virginia. FSU, ranked as high fourth in the national polls, is opening a three-game home series with Minnesota tonight.
UCF, which begins a crucial three-game series against American Athletic Conference foe Houston tonight at 7:30 p.m., will take on Florida State just before the final weekend series of the regular season. The Knights will take on UConn May 15-17.
