ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - It was another sweep for the UCF baseball team on Monday afternoon as left-hander Eric Skoglund earned his second consecutive American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week award while designated hitter Sam Tolleson picked up Hitter of the Week honors.

In the first weekend of conference play, UCF was the lone team in The American to start with a 3-0 mark and currently sits on top of the league standings. The Knights also earned their second win over a nationally ranked opponent with a 9-2 victory over No. 25 Miami last Tuesday.

The last time the Knights swept hitter and pitcher of the week honors was March 1, 2004 when Dee Brown (hitter) and Matt Fox (pitcher) received the accolades from the Atlantic Sun.

Skoglund, who became the first UCF pitcher to be honored in back-to-back weeks since Justin Pope in 2001, hurled a two-hitter against Cincinnati in the conference opener March 21. The Sarasota native surrendered just a lone unearned run to go along with eight strikeouts. Skoglund increased his league lead to 38 strikeouts and also paces the conference in batting average against (.152). The Knights' ace became the first UCF pitcher to spin back-to-back complete games since Mark Michael in 2003.

Tolleson hit .571 (8-for-14) on the week by recording hits in all four UCF victories, including two three-hit games to raise his batting average 67 points to a .344 clip, which ranks sixth in the league. The junior slugged 1.000 for the week, striking three doubles and a home run, scoring six runs along and driving in a pair.

Tolleson (two) joined teammate Tommy Williams (six) as the only Knights to hit multiple home runs this season.

The Black and Gold also became the first team in The American to sweep the weekly awards since honors began on Feb. 17.

UCF will return to the field for midweek action against in-state rival Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night's matchup with the Wildcats will serve as the second "Dollar Dog Knight" of 2014. Fans in attendance can enjoy $1 hot dogs all game long. To purchase individual game tickets for Wednesday click here: http://www.ticketmaster.com/artist/1208324?brand=ucf
