ORLANDO, Fla. ( - On its annual Pink in the Park night to raise awareness for breast cancer, the UCF baseball team was unable to get the result it was looking for on the field, falling to Florida Atlantic, 10-2.

The Knights (20-18) dropped only their second game in six meetings to the Owls (25-12) since the two used to be conference mates in the Atlantic Sun in 2005.

UCF will jump back into Conference USA action when it welcomes Marshall for a three-game set beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m. It will be Camo Knight at the ballpark followed Military Appreciation Day on Saturday at 4 p.m.

The Owls wasted no time in staking an early lead, throwing up three runs on four hits in the first, and knocking out starter Brian Adkins in the process. Redshirt sophomore Spencer Davis took over and got two quick grounders to end the frame.

In the third, FAU made a bid for more, but a relay throw from JoMarcos Woods (1-for-3, 1 BB) in center field to Tommy Williams at short back to home plate saw Chris Taladay (1-for-4, 1 R) tag catcher Mike Spano in plenty of time for the second out of the inning.

Walk-on second baseman Bret Gordon (3-for-4, 1 HR) carried his inspired play from the field into the batter's box, ripping a 1-0 pitch over the left-field wall for his first-career collegiate home run.

UCF continued the momentum from Gordon's home run into the fourth as Taladay led off the frame with a single to center field to extend his hit streak to 16 games. Parker Webster (1-for-4) followed up with a base-knock through the right side before Austin Johnston notched his second sacrifice fly of the year to make it 3-2.

The Owls would open the flood gates in the following three frames, scoring three in each the fifth and sixth, followed by another run in the seventh for a 10-2 lead. They totaled 15 hits in the game and made UCF use seven different pitchers on the night.
