ORLANDO - UCF volleyball head coach Meg Colado announced that four student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent and will join the Golden Knights for the 2005 season. LaKeesha Hagan, Maina Heming, Jennifer Heppert and Lindsay Randazzo will all suit up for UCF when the team makes its debut in Conference USA next season.

Hagan is a middle blocker from Houston, Texas, where she prepped at Westfield High School for coach Debbie McDougal-Britton. Following her senior campaign, she was an all-district honoree.

"LaKeesha is a wirey, athletic middle," said Colado. "She has a ton of potential and a great vertical. We look for Lakeesha to be a spark in the middle."

A native of Brazil, Heming was a standout outside hitter at Independence Community College in Kansas, where she played for coach Erin Brown. As a sophomore, Heming led the Pirates to a 40-9 record and earned a spot on the NJCAA Division II All-America First Team.

"Maina brings a maturity and consistency to the outside position," commented Colado. "We look forward to her competitiveness and leadership."

Heppert, a middle blocker from Lawrence, Kan., played at Lawrence Free State High School for coach Nancy Hopkins. She garnered several accolades during her senior season, including a spot on the state all-tournament team and all-conference first team recognition.

"Jenny is an incredibly hard-working middle," said Colado. "She is persistent in her defensive effort and is a mature middle for her age."

Randazzo prepped at St. Mary's Dominican High School in New Orleans, La. She led her squad to an appearance in the state semifinals and was named one of the top-10 liberos in the nation by

"Lindsay is one of the country's top liberos," said Colado. "She is a fiery player who can control the back court. We feel that Lindsay will make great contributions to the UCF program."

The Golden Knights head for C-USA after claiming three of the last four Atlantic Sun Championship titles. Overall, the team has appeared in seven NCAA Championships, with three coming since 2000.
