ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF women's basketball team will be back on the court in no time after wrapping up its home schedule on Saturday. The Knights (10-18, 3-14) travel to Dallas, Texas, to meet SMU (16-12, 7-10) for their regular season finale at 8 p.m. ET Monday.
It marks the quickest turnaround for UCF in a non-tournament scenario this year. The last time the Knights picked up two wins over the Mustangs in the same season occurred in 2009.
UCF freshman Zykira Lewis posted a career-high 22 points against SMU in the Feb. 11 meeting at CFE Arena. She has led the Knights in scoring in every game since then, averaging 17.0 points per game during the stretch. UCF will visit Moody Coliseum for the first time since its $47 million renovation and expansion was completed.
The Mustangs boast the league's leading scorer in senior guard Keena Mays, who averages 20.6 points per game. Mays just recorded her 1,000th point as a Mustang after putting up 22 in SMU's loss to USF on Saturday.
Akil Simpson is also a fellow 1,000-point scorer and averages 13.8 points per game, good for ninth among the conference's leaders.
