STORRS, Conn. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF begins its last conference road series on Friday at UConn. The opener at J.O. Christian Field has been moved up to 11 a.m. due to the threat of inclement weather.
The three-game set continues on Saturday at 1 p.m. and concludes at noon on Sunday. Fans can watch each game of the series with a subscription to UCF Knights All-Access.
The pitching rotation for the Knights features junior right-handers Robby Howell and Juan Pimentel along with a Sunday starter that is to be determined. The Huskies have announced their rotation as Anthony Kay (5-4, 2.48 ERA, 84 K), Tim Cate (2-1, 2.88 ERA, 75 K) and William Montgomerie (3-3, 3.22 ERA, 64 K).
After winning the series vs. Cincinnati and topping USF and Jacksonville, UCF (25-25, 8-10 The American) has won four of its last five contests. The Knights have been clutch during the span driving in 20 runs with two outs.
UConn (26-22, 8-9 The American) has taken conference series against Houston and Memphis and earned a split with Tulane. The Huskies have topped non-league foes UT-San Antonio, Missouri State, Austin Peay, Alcorn State, Liberty, Yale, William & Mary, USC, Columbia, Boston College, Fairfield, Bryant, UMass-Lowell, Holy Cross and Northeastern.
The Knights conclude the regular season with a three-game set vs. East Carolina that begins on Thursday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. The second game of the series is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday, while the finale starts at 1 p.m. Saturday.
