ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The Knights are back at the UCF Baseball Complex on Friday at 6:30 p.m. for 90's Knight against Tulane. The series continues on Saturday at 4 p.m. with military appreciation day, while the finale is set for 1 p.m. Sunday.
A special 90's Knights Baseball T-shirt is slated to be given away during Friday's contest. The first 100 fans to Saturday's game can pick up a UCF Camo T-shirt.
Junior right-hander Robby Howell (7-0, 1.14 ERA, 42 K), who was recently named to the watch list for National Pitcher of the Year, is set to make his first-career Friday night start against the Green Waves' Emerson Gibbs (3-2, 2.08 ERA, 54 K). Game two of the series features junior righty Juan Pimentel (2-5, 4.42 EA, 39 K) going up against Ross Massey (5-2, 1.64 ERA, 35 K). The Knights have yet to determine their Sunday starter, while Tulane has set Alex Massey (3-4, 5.86 ERA, 40 K).
The fourth-ranked Knights in The American have posted a 5-4 conference mark with series wins against Memphis and USF. Three of the four defeats in the league have come by two runs or less.
Tulane (23-13, 4-4 The American) is currently fifth in the league standings after taking a series from East Carolina, falling, 2-1, vs. Cincinnati and splitting, 1-1, at UConn. The Green Wave have secured non-conference wins over Southern Miss, LSU, Illinois State, Furman, Louisiana-Lafayette, Pepperdine, Arizona, Alabama A&M and Illinois.
