ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - After a tough series loss at No. 24 Houston where all the games were decided by one run, UCF has the opportunity to take on No. 1 Miami on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Alex Rodriguez Park. The game is set to broadcast on ESPN3.
The pitching matchup is set with freshman lefty Bryce Tucker (0-0, 4.26 ERA, 8 K) going up against Jesse Lepore (4-0, 2.34 ERA, 28 K). Lepore earned the victory against the Knights back on March 16 by going five innings and allowing two earned runs, while striking out three.
UCF (18-16) is coming off consecutive one-run losses at No. 24 Houston after taking the opener of the series, 2-1. The Knights saw sophomore Cre Finfrock (8.1) and junior Juan Pimentel (8.0) throw eight-plus innings as starters against the Cougars.
Miami (25-4) is the No. 1 team in every poll in college baseball after defeating Notre Dame over the weekend to extend its win streak to nine games.
The Knights return to the UCF Baseball Complex on Friday to start a three-game set against conference-rival South Florida at 6:30 p.m. Saturday's game time has been moved up to noon and is a part of the #UCFastival. The finale on Sunday between the Knights and Bulls begins at 1 p.m.
