JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - In the final tune up before opening conference play on Friday at Memphis, UCF fell at Jacksonville, 8-3, on Tuesday night at John Sessions Stadium. The Knights totaled nine hits and had their opportunities, but stranded 10 runners, including the bases loaded in the fourth and seventh innings.
After the Knights scored twice in the top of the third inning, Jacksonville (16-8) took control of the contest by answering with five runs on five hits and two walks during the bottom-half. Seth Dewitt paced the Dolphins with two hits and four RBI.
UCF opens play in The American with a series at Memphis that starts on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Eastern. The Saturday contest begins at 3 p.m., while the Sunday finale of the series is set for 1 p.m.
The next home game for the Knights is on April 5 against No. 18 Florida Atlantic with the first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. at the UCF Baseball Complex.
