ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - A nine-game stretch with eight on the road comes to a close for UCF on Wednesday at Bethune-Cookman. First pitch from Jackie Robinson Ballpark is set for 6 p.m.
Junior righty Juan Pimentel (0-1, 4.97 ERA, 7 K) earns his first start as a Knight. The Wildcats are countering with lefty Donte Lindsey (0-1, 10.12 ERA, 6 K).
UCF (7-6) came up short in high-scoring series finale, 13-10, at Rice after the squads split the first two contests. The Knights tallied 15 hits in game three and received quality starts from sophomore Cre Finfrock and junior Robby Howell to start the series.
Howell was recognized for his performance and earned The American Pitcher of the Week. The Fort White, Fla., native pitched 7 1/3 scoreless innings and struck out three, while only yielding four hits. The righty has not given up an earned run over 19.0 innings of work in 2016.
B-CU (4-6) faces Jacksonville on Tuesday before hosting UCF. The Wildcats have registered victories over Murray State (2), USF and Florida Gulf Coast on the season.
UCF returns home to host LIU Brooklyn in a three-game set that starts on Friday at 6:30 p.m. The series continues on Saturday at 4 p.m., while the first pitch of the finale is set for 1 p.m.
