ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com)--The UCF volleyball team defeated Florida Atlantic 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-21, 25-23) in the first match of the Holiday Inn Orlando East UCF Area Classic on Friday morning at The Venue.

"I thought that they (the Knights) adjusted really well for what we were trying to do and I thought we had a very specific gameplan," said head coach Todd Dagenais. "Once we settled down I thought we served really well, blocked really well and I thought we attacked really well. A lot of the things that they did to us, we haven't seen or experienced that yet."

The Knights rallied the Owls back and forth in the first set, until UCF went on a 13-6 run to clinch the set 25-17. The second set continued the tight battle between the teams, with neither team leading by more than three points. The Owls took the second, 25-23. The Black and Gold started the third set a little slow before taking the lead 15-14. The teams went back and forth before the Knights won four consecutive points to clinch the third set. UCF went into the fourth swinging as they took an early 5-3 lead. FAU came back and took the lead forcing the Knights to fight back. The Black and Gold took the lead at 10-9 and never lost it to seal the deal.
