Five Knights Set for NBA Summer League

ORLANDO – The NBA offseason has already had its fill of excitement with the start of free agency, but the thrills begin soon for UCF fans as five former Knights are set to begin NBA Summer League action this weekend.

 

Tacko Fall, Aubrey Dawkins, BJ Taylor and Chad Brown will begin their professional careers playing at the highest level, while AJ Davis joins the NBA Summer League action in his second year as a pro. Davis split time in his first season between Kosovo, Australia and the NBA G League.

 

Fall signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Boston Celtics following the NBA Draft and has been in preseason camp with the club this week prior to heading out to Las Vegas for the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League.

 

Boston doesn’t play in Friday’s first day of action in Vegas. Fall and the Celtics will open up play on Saturday, July 6 when they take on the Philadelphia 76ers at 5:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Dawkins also signed an Exhibit 10, his with New Orleans, which allows him the opportunity to play with the Pelicans’ G League team if he doesn’t make the active roster after camp. Dawkins went to New Orleans this week for practice prior to heading out to Las Vegas for game action.

 

The Pelicans do play on opening night in Las Vegas, taking on the New York Knicks Friday, July 5 at 9:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Both Taylor and Brown signed with the hometown Orlando Magic to play with their Summer League team. The pair of former Knights made their way out to Las Vegas earlier this week to start practices in preparation of this weekend’s games.

 

The Magic also play in the first day of competition in Las Vegas, but not until late Friday night. Orlando take on the San Antonio Spurs July 5 at 11 p.m. ET on NBA TV

Davis, who played with the Philadelphia 76ers’ G League team, the Delaware Blue Coats, for the tail end of last season, returned to the organization for preseason camp and Summer League. Davis has been in Philly this week at practice before the team heads out to Vegas.

 

The Sixers start up early on the first day of action, taking on the Milwaukee Bucks Friday, July 5 at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

Following the final regular summer league schedule games on July 11, consolation games will take place on July 12 and 13. The top eight teams will also play in the quarterfinals on July 13. The semifinals will be on July 14 with the championship game set for July 15 at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
