ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF senior midfielder Matias Pyysalo was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 Team on Thursday afternoon. The team is voted upon by the members of CoSIDA.

The honors keep coming in for the Helsinki, Finland, native, who was tabbed as the back-to-back American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year on Wednesday. Pyysalo has registered 12 goals during the campaign, including a league-best seven in conference matches.

Pyysalo ranks among the nation's leader in points (5th/2.07) and goals (4th/0.86). He also stands fifth on the Knights' charts in goals (30), assist (19) and points (79).

The sport and exercise science major has compiled a 3.53 grade-point average and is expected to graduate in December.

By earning a spot on the all-district team, Pyysalo will now be included on the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. The three teams are announced on Dec. 7.

UCF is the No. 2 seed in The American Championship and faces No. 3 UConn on Friday at 5:30 p.m. in Dallas, Texas. The winner of the semifinal matchup moves on to the championship match on Sunday at 2 p.m. against the winner between No. 1 SMU and No. 4 Temple.
