ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The No. 13 UCF baseball team will step out of Conference USA play for a weekend when it welcomes Presbyterian to the UCF baseball complex for a three-game set beginning Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Action will resume Sunday at 4 p.m. and conclude Monday at noon.
Saturday's matchup between the Knights (36-10) and Blue Hose (19-25) will also serve as UCF's Senior Day. Six seniors: Bryan Brown, Matt Collins, Alex Friedrich, Ray Hanson, Erik Hempe and Travis Shreve will all be honored prior to first pitch. Fans are encouraged to arrive early as the senior recognition will begin promptly at 6:10.
The Knights, fresh off a 5-4, 13-inning triumph at Stetson, have been stellar in non-conference weekend play at home this year with a 14-1 overall mark, including four sweeps. This will be the second all-time meeting between UCF and the visitors from Clinton, S.C. In 2010, the Knights swept the series by outscoring the Blue Hose, 31-4.
Each starter went six innings or more last weekend against Memphis, including a complete game by Adkins, the first of his career. Lively currently sits at 97 strikeouts in just 110 innings pitched since he arrived on campus last year.
Winners in 23 home contests this year, the Knights began the week with a NCAA RPI rating at No. 20 and continue to rank among the top of many statistical categories in C-USA, including ERA (2.85), RBI (281), steals (76), sacrifice flies (31) and walks (225).
