ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) -The UCF volleyball team plays its final two road matches of 2012 as it travels to Texas to take on Houston and Rice. Currently tied for third in the C-USA standings, UCF can move into sole possession of second place heading into the final weekend with a pair of victories.

The Knights (11-13, 8-4) will take on the Cougars (7-15, 6-6) Friday night at 8 p.m., and then head just across town to battle the Owls (16-10, 9-3) Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Black and Gold will look to win for the first time in program history at the Houston Athletics/Alumni Center when they battle the Cougars on Friday night. Houston started the season slow, opening the year 1-11, but hit its stride in conference play as it has won six of its last 10 matches. Houston is led offensively by seniors Katie Norris and Chandace Tryon. Norris ranks fourth in C-USA with 3.85 kills per set. Tryon is the fourth most efficient hitter in the league at .320.

After the tilt with the Cougars, the Knights will take on Rice Sunday afternoon. The Owls are currently in second place in the conference standings and the winner of Sunday's match will be in the driver's seat for the No 2 seed in the upcoming conference tournament. The Owls have proven to be one of the most consistent teams in the league as they rank in the top five in every major statistical category, including kills, digs and blocks.

Last weekend, UCF earned its second-consecutive sweep in C-USA play as it topped East Carolina, 3-0, on Friday night and came back with a crucial 3-1 victory over Marshall on Sunday afternoon. The weekend sweep helped sophomores Marie Reiterova and DeLaina Sarden earn C-USA Setter and Defensive Player of the Week honors. Reiterova averaged a league-best 11.00 assists per set while Sarden denied a 12 shots in just seven sets.
