ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The No. 29 UCF men’s tennis team earned a spot in the NCAA tournament via an at-large berth and will face the No. 27 Florida State Seminoles in the first round of the tournament on May 3 at 3 p.m.

The NCAA bid is the second the Knights have earned in the last three seasons under Director of Tennis John Roddick. They're back in the tournament after just missing it last year, being one of the first four teams out.

"It's a long season, but making the tournament is obviously our first goal from the start," said Roddick, "It's nice to get back to the tournament after missing it last year. Our guys have worked hard and it's well deserved, especially after our slow start. We had some work to do after January and February but our guys did a really good job to put ourselves in a good position.

UCF will be in a bracket with the regional host, the University of Florida, No. 27 Florida State and FGCU for the first and second rounds of the NCAA regionals. The Gators are the No. 3 national seed but No. 4 in the Oracle/ITA rankings.

The last time the Knights and Seminoles met was back in 2017 when UCF handed them a 4-1 loss in Orlando. The winner of the UCF/FSU matchup will face the winner of the UF/FGCU scrum. The UF/FGCU match will take place on May 3 at noon. The winner of the two matches will square off on Saturday, May 4 at 2 p.m.

Should UCF and UF both advance, the two will face each other for the second time this season. UCF would look to avenge an early season loss to the Gators where they fell 6-1 on their home court.

As for the NCAA singles and doubles tournament, participants will be announced tomorrow. The Knights will find out if anyone will be doing double time in the NCAA tournament on Tuesday evening.
