ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The No. 33 UCF men’s tennis team will host the Florida Atlantic Owls on Sunday at 6 p.m. to wrap up their month long 12-match home stand.
In those 12 matches, UCF has had some triumphant moments. In the face of some of the toughest opposition they’ve seen in years, the Knights are 7-4 to this point in the homestand, losing to No. 2 Wake Forest, No. 4 Virginia, No. 13 Illinois and No. 32 Texas Tech. UCF dominated two top-30 teams over the course of the last month, sweeping No. 29 Miami 4-0 on College MatchDay and downing No. 26 Oklahoma State in similar fashion.
Sunday’s match will bring FAU to town, a team that is 14-7 to this point in the season. The Owls are riding a six-match winning streak prior to facing Brown on Friday. FAU has gone 8-0 at home but just 2-5 on the road this season. They spent some time in the Oracle/ITA top-50 earlier in the season, checking in at No. 45 and No. 48 in February.
FAU won’t have a ranked singles player on the court for Sunday’s match, but they do have a ranked doubles pair. Jason Legall and Ignacio Garcia make up the No. 69 doubles duo in the nation.
The Knights and Owls have had their fair share of meetings over the course of the two school’s history. UCF leads the all-time series over FAU 26-9.
