ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF men’s tennis team has a busy week coming up, as they are set to play three matches from Wednesday through Sunday.

UCF is riding a five-match winning streak into Wednesday’s match. All five of the team’s victories have been by a score of 4-0. The Black and Gold’s most recent win was a big one, taking down No. 29 Miami on College MatchDay. The Knights dominated the doubles segment and continued to roll in singles.

Prior to the College MatchDay victory, the Knights traveled to Birmingham, Ala. for two matches. UCF downed UAB and Samford in a double header before returning home to do the same to Bethune-Cookman.

The Knights open conference play on Wednesday against the No. 39 Tulane Green Wave. Tulane comes into the match with a 4-8 record and have lost eight in a row. They began the season defeating Alcorn State in a double header and then sweeping their ITA Kickoff Weekend where they beat #18 Tennessee and #19 Florida State. Six of Tulane’s eight losses were against top-15 opponents, including No. 1 Ohio State and No. 3 Mississippi State.

UCF will match up with No. 36 Penn State on Friday. This will be the third season in a row that the Black and Gold faces Penn State with the two teams splitting their last two meetings. Penn State comes in with a record of 6-4 as they fell in their most recent match to the top ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. The only Penn State player to get a point from the Buckeyes was Christian Lakoseljac, who took down No. 30 John McNally in straight sets.

Sunday’s match will see the defending National Champions come to Orlando as Wake Forest will visit the Knights for the first time since 2012. Wake Forest boasts a 14-2 record and were ranked first in the nation going into ITA National Indoors. Ohio State defeated Wake Forest in the Indoors Championship and took over the top spot in the Oracle/ITA rankings. Four singles players are ranked for Wake Forest, with their highest being No. 2 Petros Chrysochos.
