ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – UCF Softball starting pitcher, Alea White, was named American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week after her performance over the weekend.
White appeared in three games in the Knights Classic, hosted at the UCF Softball Complex, and wrapped up the weekend with a 3-0 record. The junior threw her first career no-hitter Friday night to start the weekend and broke her single-game strikeout record fanning 12 Coastal Carolina batters.
The Land ‘O Lakes native tossed 22 total innings over three games striking out 23 batters and keeping opponents to a .122 batting average. White allowed just two earned runs on the weekend posting a 0.64 earned run average.
White took wins over two Power 6 teams beating Pitt and Penn State Saturday afternoon. White and the Knights run-ruled the Panthers, 9-1 in five innings following the 3-2 eight-inning win over the Nittany Lions.
White led the Knights in their weekend sweep of the Knights Classic as UCF defeated Pitt twice, Coastal Carolina, Penn State, and LA Tech to extend their winning streak to six games.
Overall, White is 5-3 on the season with eight appearances and six complete games. UCF is 9-4 on the season and 7-2 at home.
The Knights will play a midweek contest with LA Tech on Wednesday at 5 p.m., at the UCF Softball Complex. Live stats and a live stream will be available.
