ORLANDO, Fla. ( - The Knights are preparing for their next opponent and homecoming week.

Throughout the past two weeks, the Knights topped Palm Beach Atlantic and Florida Southwestern during a doubleheader on Oct. 1 at the UCF Softball Complex.

Between team practice and workouts, the Knights have worked harder this fall than previous years. Each day the team improve both on and off the field to prepare themselves for spring season.

"This is the best year UCF Softball has had in the weightroom," strength and conditioning coach Joe Howard said.

From lifting sessions to morning practice to volunteer opportunities, the Knights have created a bond that can't be broken.

While dodging Hurricane Matthew, they spent the weekend at local teammates' houses, which gave them some time to unwind and focus on their studies. Although it was a short break from practice, the Knights were ready for a tough week. UCF Softball has made sure they gave it everything they had in practice this week.

As the Knights prepare to play Florida Tech on Oct. 14 at 4:30 pm, they are also getting the opportunity to participate in one of the highest-rated homecoming traditions in the nation, Spirit Splash. The team will attend the Homecoming, where one of their own will be on the field vying for the title of Homecoming Queen during Saturday's football game. They will also be volunteering at the U Can Finish race Sunday morning at 7:15 am.

It's going to be an eventful weekend for the Knights, but they are more than ready.
