ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF head coach Renee Luers-Gillispie announced Monday that prep-standout pitcher Kazandra Holliday (Silverdale, Wash.) signed a National Letter of Intent to play with the UCF softball team beginning this fall.

"We are very excited that we had the opportunity to get a remarkable pitcher from the state of Washington in Kazandra," Gillispie said. "Not only is she a great pitcher, but she also brings an extensive offensive resume with her as well. She is a well-rounded athlete, a quality person and has all the tools that we are looking for in a student-athlete. We are excited to have her become a part of the UCF family."

A senior at Klahowya Secondary School, Holliday was named to the 2009 All-Olympic League First Team for the third-straight year after leading her team to the Class 2A West Central District Tournament championship game and setting her school's single-season strikeout record with 236.

The hurler also set the school's all-time strikeout record in 2009, totaling 661 strikeouts in her four-year career with the Eagles, earning her a spot in the Fastpitch Showcase All-Star Game for the third-consecutive season.

Holliday was named to the All-Kitsap County First Team in both 2007 and 2008, while earning a spot on the second team as a freshman in 2006. The hurler also made an appearance on the All-Nisqually League Second Team in her rookie campaign.

In 2008, Holliday posted a 14-4 record and 2.01 ERA on the mound for Klahowya, while also posting 161 strikeouts in only 119 innings pitched.

This summer Holliday will begin her second season with the 18A Gold Washington Phoenix travel team.

The 5-foot-9 righty has not only produced impressive credentials on the field, but in the classroom as well. Holliday was a Miss Kitsap nominee in 2008 and received the Klahowya Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award in both 2006 and 2007. The senior is a two-time member of the academic honor roll and has also graced the President's Academic List.

Holliday is interested in pursuing a degree in Sports and Fitness while at UCF.
