ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Louis Perez grabbed the final American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week of the season announced Monday by the conference.
This is Perez’s second Offensive Player of the Week award after earning the first one of the season.
Perez netted the lone goal Friday against Cincinnati giving UCF a share of The American regular season title and secured the Knights as tournament hosts with the 1-0 victory.
In the 84th minute, Perez sent a left-footed curler from 25-yards out to the back post over the keeper’s fingertips for the eventual game winner.
The Paris, France native had five shots in the match with three on goal in his 90 minutes of play. Perez finished the season with three goals and five assists for 11 points.
The Knights finished the regular season 12-2-2 overall and 5-1-1 in conference play garnering 14 points against conference opponents.
This is the first time UCF has won the regular season title since joining The American and is there first regular season title since 2004 when they were a part of the Atlantic Sun.
THE AMERICAN TOURNAMENT
- The Knights will be the No. 1 seed in the 2018 tournament and will also host five matches at the UCF Soccer Complex.
- UCF will receive a first-round bye and will face the winner of Tuesday’s match between UConn and Temple on Thursday at 7 p.m.
- The action begins on Tuesday, Nov. 6 with the first two rounds. The semifinal matches will be played on Thursday, Nov. 8, and the championship match will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. All Tournament info can be found here.
